What is Clubs to Hire all about and when did it emerge as the leading club provider for the travelling golfer?

Clubs to Hire was set up in 2010 to give travelling golfers a real alternative to lugging their golf clubs abroad. European Airlines were charging an arm and a leg to put your clubs on the plane and our concept removed all that hassle and a lot of the cost. Clubs to Hire is all about allowing our clients to travel in peace and getting an opportunity to try out the latest sets to market. Sets are available from €40 to €85 per set per week and can be collected at the airport or delivered to your accommodation along the Algarve.

Obviously, the last 18 months have been very difficult for the entire Golf industry. How has Clubs to hire adapted and changed in Covid times?

Clubs to Hire has had a horrid time as overseas travel effectively stopped for 18 months. During this time we have been busy streamlining the business and looking at new opportunities and ways that we can best service our clients. We have had great support from our many clients and we look forward to better days ahead.

In your opinion, what will the long term impact of COVID-19 on the travelling golfer and the golf industry as a whole be?

I am actually very optimistic about the future for travel and more specifically golf travel. During Covid, over one million new people took up golf in GB&I and I feel this will spill over into the golf travel abroad. Enquiries are on the up and I feel 2022/23 will be strong for golf travel in Europe and beyond.

What’s new at Clubs to Hire? Are there any new equipment partners/brands available to golfers?

During Covid we finalised new deals with three household golf brands, they are Cobra, PING and PXG. We will be supplying the latest clubs from these brands and of course the latest models from TaylorMade and Callaway. We have something for everyone and a budget to suit all.

Which are your favourite golf courses to play in the Algarve?

I love Laranjal in Quinta do Lago and always love a trip to Amendoeira – O’Connor course.

Which are your favourite restaurants in the Algarve, when you come over to visit, from your home in Dublin?

My favourite for a bit of fun at the beach is BJs and I love to visit Maruffo for their famous chicken and chips. To be honest you are spoilt for choice in the Algarve

Tell us something about yourself which our readers may not know about you?

I am Irish and from Dublin. I have been involved in the golf business for years, previously managing the likes of the Mount Juliet Golf Resort and a few others. I am a keen golfer playing off 4 handicaps.
